Ignore this, just for rememberance.

Hi there,

I hope that my reply isn't too late, that you still have the time to decide. I am a NTU Bioengineering graduate. I am blessed that I had chances to work in Bioengineering labs in Singapore and overseas (France, Australia, etc) so I have some idea of the working world of Bioengineering. =)

Bioengineering is meant to be a bridge betweeen medicine and engineering. A lot of medical problems require engineering solutions. In the past, doctors have the problems, but they don't know engineering to solve the problems. Engineering who design ECG, X-ray machine, etc, do not have medical backgrounds so they don't know what is required for those medical equipment. So there we train Bioengineers, who understand both Biology and Engineering, to bridge the gap between the two.

Hence, the workload is rather heavy. Bioengineering is one of the heaviest course in NTU, as we have to know everything, from electrical engineering, mechanical, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc. And since time is limited, courses tend to jump to advanced materials while skipping the introductory part, so in a lot of courses you have to spend a lot of time catching up the basics yourself.

The downside is, since we learn everything, we only know a little bit of everything as have no solid knowledge of any branch of engineering. So is it good? It depends... If you want to study something else after bioengineering, then BioEngineering is a good choice. For example, if you do PhD in a specialized area after graduation, Bioengineering gives you the big picture of the research. I myself am doing Medicine now; Bioengineering gives me the engineering side of Medicine, hence helpful for me being a more well-rounded doctor. If you intend to work immediately after obtaining a B.Eng in Bioengineering, it's not a good choice. Bioengineering companies would rather hire electrical engineers or mechanical engineers with solid knowledge in mechanics or electronics then teach them biology, than hiring Bioengineers who have little knowledge of everything. Furthermore, working in Bioengineering research requires profound knowledge in the area, requiring at least post-docs or PhDs, so yes, fresh undergrads are usually only doing low-level work as assistants in local labs. In other words, if you take Bioengineering major, you have to study till at least post-doctoral level to continue in Bioengineering research area. This applies not only to Singapore, but also overseas companies.

Another hard fact is that Bioengineering industry hasn't matured in Singapore. We still import a lot of foreign talents to Bioengineering companies here. Based on seniors' experience, the majority of class of 2007-09 graduants go to other fields: bank, insurance, teaching, etc. The rest do PhDs or be research assistants.

I am not discouraging you from taking Bioengineering. I myself enjoyed it very much, and it's a good complement to the Medical degree I am studying now. In short, if Bioengineering is your end means, it's not recommended. If you intend to study PhD or something else after Bioengineering, it's a good complement, worth taking it.

All the best, and best wishes in your decission making! =)

Regards,

Chang

Apology~

Sorry for the hiatus in the updates :x
Right, I have recently found a job and currently busy with my Polytechnic admissions.

Thus, I will be updating the story at a slower rate ( 3 days 1 chapter maybe? )

BUT on the bright side, this is only temporary.
It'll go back to 1 day 1 chapter AFTER my job, which ends next Sunday.
Till then~

Chapter 10 : Plan

It was 2 weeks before the June holidays. The days were not getting better; being thrown into the pit of humiliation, pain and suffering during the first quarter of my school life wasn't the type of start anybody would want.

It was also a week after I met Messier, an alter ego of mine. Messier would usually instruct me where to go to avoid trouble, where to sit in the canteen to stay clear of THEM and how to minimize our chance of getting picked on.

The gang was unusually " quiet " in the month of May. Perhaps they had too much fun torturing me in the month of February, March and April that they decided to let me go in May...or perhaps they finally matured and understood the pains I had while being the bully victim and start gave me some much needed sympathy although the chance of the latter happening was microscopically low, even safe to say, impossible. The fact that we were in the week of our mid-year examinations may have contributed a huge part.

Regardless, I still loiter the top most floor of the school during recesses and breaks. I was fortunate enough not to get caught. Most of the time I would stay back in school just to do homework at the top most floor of the school, instead of going home and still have to bear the nagging of my parents coupled with a very irritating sister.

Fast forward, to approximately 10 days before the June holidays, the gang strikes again. You can pretty much imagine the scenario by now : Me doing homework, them coming to disturb me, them dragging me to the corner of the room, them stuffing waste paper into my bag, them throwing me into the metal cupboard at the back of the class, them locking me inside the metal cupboard and me silently crying for help.

I knew, sooner or later, it would happen again anyway. Word of this has spread throughout the entire cohort that every student in my cohort shuns me. Teachers would try to keep their hands out of it and would pretend that nothing happened. After all, the reputation of the school would be tarnished if this were to be leaked out. People will get the impression of Aspire Secondary School being a " bad " school, one for the brutes. Of course, that may be the reason on why even the teachers turned their backs on me.

Nevertheless, I persevered.

" Soon ", Messier told me, " we will have our revenge. "

Chapter 10 end.

---------------

I hope you enjoy this chapter! It's more of a summery of what happened so far, plus an added surprise plan for the next chapter.
It also explains why I don't bother to seek the teacher's help.
Also, I have already ROUGHLY decided on how many chapters I will write/type.
It's a secret ^_^

Messier Chapter 1 : Birth // Chapter 9 : Birth ( Of Messier )

It was dark. It had been stormy ever since the start of the year. Everything was a disaster.

I turned and saw my broken ego. They SHATTERED ego.
Pride was nowhere to be found. They SHAMED our pride.
"Optimistic" and "Positive" were out of my dictionary. They STOLE my personality.

My world was filled with pollution, negatives and pessimistic views.
It was all thanks to THEM.

I could not just stand aside and do nothing. I had to help, for if he dies, I would follow.

--

Light...
I saw light.
I remembered...finally seeing the light.
I walked closer to the light. It was warm.
The portal was giving out the light.
I stepped into the portal.

--

What I saw next was the one of the most terrifying things I saw in my entire life. I was on the verge of suicide.

" Stop ! " I tried to tell him. It was to no avail.

" STOP RIGHT NOW ! " I repeated, much clearly.

He jerked back, then looked at me.

" Why do you contemplate suicide ? " I asked.

He did not speak. There was only hopelessness in his eyes.

" Why are you receiving punishment for doing the right things? " I asked.

Again, he kept silent.

" Come down, child. I have come to aid you in your plight. " I offered.

" I have been all along inside your mind. I have been observing how you suffered. Fear not, for I shall help you turn the tides. ", I continued.

He remained silent but at least he was paying attention.

" You are the only son of your parents. Should you die, so does your family crumbles. You are blessed with a huge family supporting you. Don't you want to prove to them that you can make it? Don't you want to see their faces? I know I do, for I am part of you. " I counseled him.

" Come now. Follow my plans accordingly and you shall see them suffer. They will pay for making you suffer. In this world, only the strong survives. I am here to transform you from a bully victim to a success. Everybody has left you. You have nobody to trust. I am your Trump Card. Rest first and we shall meet again. "

I left after that, only to come out when he calls.

Messier Chapter 1 END.

------

Alright, so I introduced a new character, Messier.
Messier was born from the stress that I had back then. He has been a great help to me since. You can call him an " Alter ego " (or split personality or imaginary friend, whatever suits you. )

I probably should give a sneak peek about him since I am unable to fulfill my promise of updating 3 chapters today and only giving 2. I apologize deeply for that.

==

Messier is REAL and he lives inside my mind. I know this is VERY weird and freaky but this is a fact. This means he does not exist solely in my stories.
^ I'm expecting lots of taunts from you guys after typing that. Some may even laugh.
Go ahead and mock me but if not for him, I may not be here.

--

SNEAK PEEK :

Messier isn't really what he seems. He also has another side to him. I call him " Dark Messier ".
You shall see more of Dark Messier further down in my story.

Till then, tata.

Chapter 8 : Messier

I looked down...
It was a long distance down...
I hesitated...
In the end, I gave up.

~

Why is the world so cruel?
Why must my life be so sad?
Why must I be the one who suffers?

~

I was standing on the edge of my window.
Should I fall, I would surely die.
I stared at the cold asphalt ground, 11 stories below my feet.
I hesitated, then jumped back.

~

" Why do you contemplate suicide ? "
" Why are you receiving punishment for doing the right things? "

" Come down, child. I have come to aid you in your plight. "

~

I took a step back from the window.

~

" I have been all along inside your mind. I have been observing how you suffered. Fear not, for I shall help you turn the tides. "

~

I closed my eyes and fell into a trance.
When I awoke, it was dinnertime.

Nicholas Flamel

Flamel has been alleged to be the eighth Grand Master of the Priory of Sion (1398-1418) as part of a 1960s intrigue where his name was planted in the French National Library in the Dossiers Secrets. This resulted in him being mentioned in the 1982 pseudohistory book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, Umberto Eco's 1988 novel Foucault's Pendulum, and Dan Brown's 2003 novel, The Da Vinci Code. Many of the names of "Grand Masters" were evidently chosen for some sort of connection with alchemy.

==

Priory of Sion

The Prieuré de Sion, translated from French as Priory of Sion, is a name given to multiple groups, both real and fictitious. The most notorious is a fringe fraternal organization, founded and dissolved in France in 1956 by Pierre Plantard. In the 1960s, Plantard created a fictitious history for that organization, describing it as a secret society founded in the Kingdom of Jerusalem in 1099, which serves the interests of the Merovingian dynasty and its alleged bloodlines.[2] This myth was expanded upon and popularized by the 1982 controversial book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail,[1] and later claimed as factual in the preface of the 2003 conspiracy fiction novel The Da Vinci Code.[3]

==

Following that event, the Grand Masters of the Priory of Sion are listed in French as being:
  1. Jean de Gisors (1188–1220)
  2. Marie de Saint-Clair (1220–1266)
  3. Guillaume de Gisors (1266–1307)
  4. Edouard de Bar (1307–1336)
  5. Jeanne de Bar (1336–1351)
  6. Jean de Saint-Clair (1351–1366)
  7. Blanche d'Evreux (1366–1398)
  8. Nicolas Flamel (1398–1418)
  9. René d'Anjou (1418–1480)
  10. Iolande de Bar (1480–1483)
  11. Sandro Filipepi (1483–1510)
  12. Léonard de Vinci (1510–1519)
  13. Connétable de Bourbon (1519–1527)
  14. Ferdinand de Gonzague (1527–1575)
  15. Louis de Nevers (1575–1595)
  16. Robert Fludd (1595–1637)
  17. J. Valentin Andrea (1637–1654)
  18. Robert Boyle (1654–1691)
  19. Isaac Newton (1691–1727)
  20. Charles Radclyffe (1727–1746)
  21. Charles de Lorraine (1746–1780)
  22. Maximilian de Lorraine (1780–1801)
  23. Charles Nodier (1801–1844)
  24. Victor Hugo (1844–1885)
  25. Claude Debussy (1885–1918)
  26. Jean Cocteau (1918–1963)

Pseudohistory much?

==

Alright so I was bored and went surfing on the 8 endings of the game Shadow Of Memories/Shadow of Destiny and coincidentally found the term " Philosopher's stone ".

We all are no strangers to the Philosopher's stone -- and I can assure you 98% of the people on Earth would say " OH YOU MEAN THAT HARRY POTTER MOVIE? " when the word " Philosopher's stone " comes out.

After further research on Google and Wikipedia, I noticed that the Philosopher's stone is also used in FullMetalAlchemist ( anime ) and World of Warcraft ( online RPG ), just to name a few.

Now, I don't think JK Rowling watches FMA or plays World of Warcraft.
However, they all have one thing in common - The Philosopher's Stone.

==

So what is the Philosopher's stone, really?

From http://www.crystalinks.com/philosopherstone.html,

" The philosopher's stone is a legendary substance, allegedly capable of turning inexpensive metals into gold. It was sometimes believed to be an elixir of life, useful for rejuvenation and possibly for achieving immortality. For a long time, it was the most sought-after goal in Western alchemy. In the view of spiritual alchemy, making the philosopher's stone would bring enlightenment upon the maker and conclude the Great Work. It is also known by several other names, such as 'materia prima.' "

--

To simplify, it is a legendary item capable of turning lead into gold or whatever ( but mostly gold, cause you know, gold is running out and it fetches a way higher price than silver. Lol for integrating economics to mythology ).

It can also be used for attaining immortality.

--

So what's the big hoo-haa over this stone?

Is it just fiction? Pure fiction?
I doubt so.

Although I won't embark on my next journey to further discover about the Philosopher's stone, I'll still keep a watch on it, maybe get opinions from the people at UM.

Then again, this is a pretty good topic to kick start my return to explore the Paranormal realm once again.

Sa-yo-na-ra!

Chapter 7 - Hideout

The days of March, April and May were slow. Going to school was like going to hell.
Although I was spared from their tyranny during lesson time, I was tortured like crazy during breaks or after school hours. Each act of bullying done by them keeps getting bolder and worse than the previous act.

It is a wonder how I could still manage to keep my position as the top 10 students in my class.

Each day after school, I would lock myself in the room. Sometimes I just stare blankly at space. I was, of course, angered by their acts of humiliation. Unlike other victims of bully, I do not cut myself or sorts of self-mutilation. I channel my anger into energy to fuel me to work harder.

" I'll promote to the express stream and laugh at them! I'll do well in my examinations to make them eat back their words! I'll make them regret bullying me! " - These were the thoughts which ran through my mind. These words were my motivation to succeed in life.

Lexi was the ( assumed ) ring leader of the squad. The one who pretty much started the fire going. He was actively followed by his lackeys. The acts were carried out like this - they forced me on a push-up position and asked me to do 50 or so push-ups. Lexi would sit on the chair and you can imagine like it was a scene from some old Chinese movie where the beggar would beg the elite for money. If I refused, his lackeys would kick me down.

The best part? That was just the tip of the iceberg. Such acts done by them had pretty much screwed my secondary school life up. It's effects could NEVER wear off.

It was only when I figured that I cannot keep the situation like this forever. During breaks and after school, I would go to a place where they will never find me - The last floor of the school. It was my first hideout. The last floor of the school is where the water tank room at. It is the highest floor which anybody can go. Students were warned not to go near that floor but I did it anyway. That floor rarely has anybody visiting and furthermore it was the last place which anybody will think of going.

==

Chapter 7 END.

-----

In the entire class, no one was willing to stand up and play the Hero. No one wanted to protect the underdog. No one wants to associate themselves with the loser. You could imagine how deep the pit of loneliness which I was in.

From then on, I realized that in this world, only the strong survive while the weak will just die.
It's a dog-eat-dog world out there where nobody can be trusted.

It was then where I was born.

-----

AN : Right, so I touched on one of the many acts they did.
If you are part of my REAL LIFE family and reading this - I plead you not to tell anybody and keep it to yourself.

I didn't wanted to post that event but in the end heck I figured it'll make the story much more emotional.

If you are one of those ex-tormentors and reading this - No hard feelings, I don't bare a grudge against you. I swear. I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.

If you are one of those who still thinks " HAHA THAT IDIOT KEEPS GETTING BULLIED. MAN HES SO STUPID " or " EUGENE IS DUMB HE HAS NO HOPE " or " HE WAS JUST LUCKY " - I don't know why you still cannot see me as someone respectable but I will not give up trying to earn back your respect.

And finally, apologies for not updating yesterday. Went out.
Doubt anybody except a single loyal fan of my story. ( Thank you iedeuafjndkiehendl )

Chapter 6 - Start

It was a week after the end of the March holidays. The class "bond" was already formed at this time - every time we stand in unison against the teachers and defending our classmates.
Such were the few acts that the class did. It was like we were destined to meet and form that class.

Going against the teacher's will is one out of the many things that proved we are bonded.

When pupils from the other classes passed by, we would jeer at them for no good reason. ( or the sole reason that they were not part of this class. Kinda like the " MY CLASS IS BETTER THAN YOURS " kind of thing. )

Unfortunately, that was bad news for me.

--

Lexi is the type of person you would not want to offend. He may be one of the shortest in the class but his stamina is godlike. He excels in sports and Physical Education seems to be his favorite subject. His core subjects are English, a bit of Humanities and a bit of Science. He isn't very good in Chinese.

Lexi tends to get involve with the "popular " classmates. He has quite a number of friends in the classroom and most of them are his primary school mates. His outgoing personality is an asset. With active participation to marathons and stuffs like that, it is undoubted that he has many, many, many, many friends. ( or " connections ", either way you see it as, it's the same )

His negative traits? Don't expect him to be a saint. You can expect him troubling the teachers and creating a commotion. That's all I can reveal.

--

The days after the common tests was one hell of a torture ride. My unwillingness to partake in class activities had caused much trouble for me. All I wanted was to do well and escape that hell-class, hoping that one day the teachers would notice me and promote me to the EXPRESS stream.

All it took was one person to hate me and his " gang " would follow suit. All it took was one " gang " to hate me and the entire class would follow suit. Some just hated me, while others thought that it was purely " out of fun ".

What they didn't know was the details - was I wrong to support him in his wrongdoings?
My unwillingness to help him cheat in a test - was it wrong to not help him?
Why was I being hated for doing something right?

Then again...I was once known as the infamous saboteur back then.
That is because...I'm different.

==

Chapter 6 end.

Author's note : Apologies for not updating yesterday, was thinking of how to move on from the previous chapter.
This chapter is a little bit emotional, aye?

You may notice that there is a change in my format of writing. This will be elaborated more in the upcoming chapters.

Anyway, I have also included an introductory paragraph for each MAJOR characters in my story. That is my opinion of them along with bits of information here and there.

And I would like to bring this up again - THE NAMES OF ALL CHARACTERS IN MY STORY ( except mine ) ARE CHANGED. THEIR PERSONALITY, HOWEVER, WILL REMAIN THE SAME. THE EVENTS ARE ALL TRUE. SOME OF THE EVENTS WILL BE AMPLIFIED OR DULLED TO MAKE THE STORY MORE...INTERESTING.

Chapter 5 - Cheating

It happened on a normal school day, just 2 weeks before the March holidays. The classroom was dead silent. The teacher was walking around. For once, the class felt so serene and peaceful. It was total silence, except for the sound of the pens and the teacher's footsteps. Not a single voice could be heard.

It was our first common test.

--

The common test was announced a week before by our teachers. It was late February and I have already got to know the entire class, some a little more than others.

Being average students in an average school streamed in an average class, you could guess our reaction was not-so-enthusiastic about the news and some were unwilling to sit for the test. Of course, we had no power to push back or abolish the test, thus we took it, like it or not.

Some studied for the test but most did not. I was one who certainly studied. After all, my aim is to stream out of that godforsaken class.

I was the first in my family to step foot in the Normal(Academic) stream. All my other cousins ( 23 older cousins or something around that number ) went to either Express or Special. To make matters worse ( for me ), almost half of that went to an " Elite " school. I had cousins who went to RI and RV. Being in a neighborhood school, naturally, I was looked down upon ( Although they don't say it but I know from their feelings and reactions when I had to tell them eventually. Next time I'm going to sit away from the reunion table.)

The maths test was a breeze for me. I could not understand how could anybody fail a maths test. Maths, for me, is all about practice. It's one of the easiest subjects to score, seeing how other schools score A's in Maths like it's a giveaway.

I was getting ready to hand in my paper. The teacher said we had 5 minutes more. I checked through for any careless mistakes.

" Stop writing. " The teacher said.

As she collected the student's test from row to row, I felt something kicked me at the back of my chair. It was the person sitting behind me; It was Lexi.

" Hey, what's your answer for question 7? " he whispered.

( Great! Excellent! This shit again. ) - I thought.

I was caught cheating back when I was primary school in an exam. It happened because the girl sitting next to me sucked at Maths. I did not know exactly why I helped her but I was caught in the process. 2 years later, the same shit happens. Coincidence, much?

This time, however, I kept silent and continued staring at blank space in front. Lexi kept kicking my chair. Each kick got more violent. I could tell he was getting desperate.

Luckily, the teacher had collected his paper before he does something else to me. It was then that it was safe to look back. Other classmates were already chit-chatting when their paper was collected.

" Fuck you. " He said.

Great! I don't help - I get hated. I help - I get caught.
Why must my life be so sad? Why do I always seem to get caught in situations like this ?

--

A week later, we got back our tests. I scored a near perfect 85%. It was not easy surviving that 1 week after the test. I was often targeted by him along with his " gang " -- Golden, Lexi, Fang, Fin and LeiJit. ( There may be more but I've forgotten the rest. )

==

Chapter 5 end.

Author's note :
We all know that I pulled through and posting my story with no actual or permanent harm done.
Although I was the target of their malice, I've now become great friends with some of them. Others - not so. You could say that each one of my tormentors got their Just Desserts.

Anyway, I hope you will continue supporting my story.

Don't go MSN-ing/FB-ing/SMS-ing or whatever-ing me " HEY WHOSE XXXXXX ON UR STORY? IS IT ME? OMFG I ALREADY SAID IM SORRY OKAY? " or " HEY WHOSE XXXXXXXX ISSIT XXXXX? I THINK I KNOW THAT GUY. " or " CAN U PLS CHANGE MY NAME ON UR STORY TO SOMETHING ELSE? I DUN LIKE THE NAME U GAVE ME. "

Stuffs like " Hey, nice story. " or " I enjoyed reading your story. " are accepted.

Chapter 4 - Comrade

It was one of the unavoidable events that had to happen in secondary school.
One event that I wasn't good at - Making friends.

In the previous few chapters, it was given that my characteristics include being an introvert.
Therefore, it can be assumed that I was bad at making friends.

It was them who approached me first.

--

It was a normal February afternoon in school. The class was in chaos as the teacher was gone. The fact that it was a Friday afternoon made the class even more rowdy. It was time for the last period of the week - Contact Time.

Contact Time is a period where the teacher hands out forms and other stuffs. It is a period where the teacher is suppose to bond with the class. In short, Contact Time is as good as Free Time.

The teacher stepped into the classroom, 5 minutes late. She cleared her voice and politely asked the class to sit down and listen to her but to no avail. She repeated her orders a few time, then started to get pissed.

Finally, she gave up and waited until it was 5 minutes left to dismissal. It was then which the class understood that she had something to say to them.

The teacher waited. Even though the class was now quiet, she waited. It was then 5minutes past dismissal time. The students were either confused or angry. Finally, one student had the guts to shout out " Why are we waiting? "

The teacher stared at him. She stood up and lectured the class. After the 10 minutes lecture, everything went back to normal - it was finally silent so that she could speak.

" Alright class, it is time we decided on who to nominate for for the key class positions. We have to nominate a treasurer, an Audio-Visual assistant, subject representatives, the Vice-Chairman and finally the Chairman. " She announced.

The class took less than a minute to consider. The positions were given randomly. Not much thought was given into the representatives, the treasurer and the AV assistant. It was more like a game of sabotage instead of actually considering who was fit for the positions.

The Vice-Chairman and the Chairman were chosen by the teacher herself, as she had received nonsensical nominees from the class. Such important positions, students who represents the class, had to be chosen by the teacher herself.

" And thus, the Vice-Chairman shall be Xenon and our Chairman shall be Leinad. "

She wrote down the names on the forms to submit. She then dismissed the class - 20 minutes after dismissal time. There was a strong feeling of discontent coming from the students.

Of course, everybody plays a part in the class community, I was also given a position.
It was a position that no class can do without - the in charge of cleaning the class on Wednesdays.

Chapter 3 - C.C.A.

It was 5 PM on a normal January day. The school was crowded - flooded with freshmen and their parents. It was like a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds and motion. It was no ordinary school day.

It was the day which I had to decide which club I had to join.

Freshmen were accompanied with their parents to decide which CCA to be taken. I was no exception. Seniors from respective clubs would entice the freshmen with hands-on experience and/or free candies.

As I walked pass the stands, I set the requirements for the clubs that I want to join; No or Minimal outdoor activities and no physical CCAs. This leaves me with the IT clubs ( AVPA ) and the Library club.

I was once a scout in my primary school days. I hated it. CCA were held every Saturday morning. For a primary school kid, going to school on Saturdays and Sundays were like...pure torture. Besides, I wasn't that friendly with the rest of my ex-club mates. They called me names like "Mucus boy " or " Bugs Bunny ". I didn't really care though. My sinus probably caused me a lot of trouble back then. Couple it with two huge front teeth and my life was probably what you can call a " Living Hell ".

Thus, you can see why I refuse to join such clubs which requires "teamwork" and "communication skills with friends". I'd rather go for something more solitary.

The library club suited me most. Spending days in the air-conditioned library playing bored games and reading books. The Cabin was also on par with the former. I listed them down in my CCA form.

Photography and IT clubs were also enticing but not good enough. I was never good at computer stuffs. Programming and stuffs like that looks difficult to me. Even editing a simple picture in Photoshop proved to be too much a hassle.

Thus, I listed my 3 options of CCA and handed the form in to my Teacher-In-Charge.

--

2 weeks later on a normal afternoon, I found myself in an air-conditioned room. 95% of the whole club are female. There were only 3 males in that entire club, myself included.

"Welcome to Entrepreneur club, I shall be your CCA teacher. You can call me Ms. Ice"

==

Chapter 3 end.

*** If you didn't read what I wrote back in my previous chapter, I changed the names of ALL characters/landmarks in this story to protect and respect their privacy. Thus you will find some of the names a little...weird( lawl Ms Ice ).

Nevertheless, the names are of little concerns in my story. Only my name shall be true in this story.

Enjoy the rest of the story coming up soon!

Chapter 2 - Introduction

The days after orientation were quiet. The shy ones would sit in one corner of the classroom, just minding their own business. The more sociable ones would have already made a couple or three new friends already.

As most would expect, I fall under the introvert category. I also sat at the corner of the classroom, the row furthest from the door and in front of the teacher's table. Sure, I knew some classmates back from primary school but did not made any effort to get to know them better.

Recesses were lonely in the first few weeks in school for me. I could still vividly remember which stall I ordered from in the first few weeks of school, Western food.

Western food was a stall that didn't exist back in primary school. Chicken chop, each plate costing at a pricey $2 and given at a miserable portion, was my favorite back then.

The first two weeks. Although I had limited friends, I was happy. Everybody was on the same standing, thus making it easier for me to finally score well and promote to the EXPRESS stream.
Lessons were easy and every first lesson starts off with an introduction from the teacher. Homework was rarely given.

By the end of the second week, I have gained a couple of new friends.

Of course, most would expect by then. No school life would be completed without CCA ( Co curriculum activities ) . Forms and leaflets were given out to freshmen, enticing them to join their club.

" Which should I join? " I wondered.

Chapter 1 - Ice breaker

The speech was finally over as the principal ended her message with a " Finally, I hope that you will enjoy your four or five years here. "

Class by class, we were dismissed from the hall to our classrooms. A tall, slender lady was waiting for us at the front of the row. She had spectacles and had long hair. She was in her mid 20's, I estimated. You would have guessed by now - She was our teacher.

She waved her hands, trying to get the class to follow her. We went down the staircase and in to the classroom. The classroom had a different feeling than the one before. The floors were not tiled. It was simply cemented. The classroom was dark and there was not a sign of vibrancy. That was expected, though, as most of us were still complete strangers. At the very least, the classroom was clean.

We all took our sits. Those who are friends would group and sit together. Those who had none are forced to sit with strangers. I didn't really care about who I will be sitting next to; I just took a place which I liked.

" Alright class, welcome to Aspire Secondary School. You can call me Miss Lucy and I will be your form teacher for this year. Now then, I believe that all of you must be very nervous as it is the first day of your secondary school life. I think we should get to know one another better before embarking on our learning journey. "

She walked to the table on the extreme end, nearest to the door.

" You, I would like you to introduce yourself to the class. Please tell the class what is your name, what school were you from and what is your hobby. "

The student stood up. We could all see that he was nervous. Everybody was. He spoke almost quietly. So quietly that nobody ( maybe except the person sitting next to him ) could hear him. Nobody dared to complain that it was " too soft " or shouted to him to speak " louder ".

The teacher did not want to force him to speak up either. Even though she herself could not hear him , she said " Good. Next person please. "

One by one, we stood up and introduced ourself. Some were prepared but most were not. We had to put on a confident front. It would be shameful to make a fool out of oneself during the first day of school.

Soon, it was my turn. I stood up and introduced myself. The fact that majority of my classmates were from the same primary school made me relax a little.

I then begun introduced myself,
" My name is Eugene Goh. I was a student from Achievement Primary School. My hobby is investigating the paranormal. "

Yup, I wanted to make other people think that I'm an interesting character. Strangely, the bulk of hobbies my classmates have were " sleeping "," playing computer games " and " watching TV ".
Others include " swimming " and " reading books ".

None were as awkward as mine.

*** The names of the characters in this story, schools in this story and other names are changed for privacy's sake. Thus, if you know what this story is about, don't go asking me why I changed the name of the schools or why I changed your name.

This is based on a true story, with real people and real events. Only the names of most characters/landmarks are changed, except mine. Well, cause you know my name already so there's no point changing my name to Akiyama or sorts.

The Secondary Saga : Day One.

PROLOGUE
--

It was 7AM in the morning.
I stepped out of the car and braced myself for what's ahead.
I continued forward and went up the staircase.
Three doors were open. They were waiting for my arrival.

I walked into the hall, trying to blend in to the secondary school atmosphere.
Everything felt so different from what I experienced back then.

Blue chairs were set up near the stage of the hall. Each chair had a class tag on it.
I could still remember where my class was situated at.
I walked towards my class. There were about twenty-odd people there already.

I sat down in the middle of the row. I felt alone.
I probably wasn't the only one who felt alone anyway.
It was the first day of school anyway.
I looked around me, hoping to see some familiar faces.
There were a few from the same primary school but they remain a minority.

The minutes passed by slowly.
Alone and quiet I sat there.
I looked at the blue chair at the front of the hall again.
There it was - my class of that year; 1/2.
